What We’re On Right Now Vol. 1

Welcome to What We’re On Right Now, where Creative Director Jason Sandagon (me) goes over his (my) current obsessions. The music, books, the people on the street etc. Do people still talk in third person, like Elmo?

Anyway, please enjoy this inaugural issue of What We’re On Right Now.

#1 Marriage

I got married in October to my beautiful, now wife, Tamara. So, marriage is so back now. Having someone legally obligated to love and care for me is pretty sick. It’s like court ordered attention.

We made my baby blue gaberdine suit, and I wore a vintage Barong as a tuxedo shirt with a bowtie. Mad King George didn’t make Tamara’s dress but we did have a hand in designing it. Doesn’t she look beautiful?

#2 The song Perfect Night by Le Sserafim

Anyone that knows me, knows I love K-Pop and this song is not just K-pop but an ear worm that drives dopamine to my dome. It’s smooth and silky. Check out the holiday remix of it too if you’re into the addition of sleigh (slayyyy) bells.

It’s even in English for an even easier brain penetration (!!!).

#3 Rowing Blazers Tie Mini Skirt

I know it’s super taboo for someone from one brand to even say they like something from another but let me tell you, this skirt from Rowing Blazer is so fucking cool. I wish I thought of it.

#4 Red Velvet Cake from Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette could be on this list every time as it is my favorite coffee shop. To the people who say “it’s a chain, I only shop local”, have you ever had one of their ice coffees and the jumbo twisted donut?

Anyway, the Red Velvet cake really fucking slaps. You can opt to get just a slice but you’ll want the whole cake anyway. This is not an ad just a rave review. If you like being happy then you’ll go grab one of these.

#5 Interior Chinatown by Charles You

I try to read a lot. Sometimes unsuccessfully but other times I find myself glued to a book, wanting to spend all my time reading it. This was the case with Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu. I actually read this a few months ago but I haven’t stopped talking about it friends.

Like a good piece of chocolate, this novel is rich with flavor and depth. One of my favorite books I read this year and frankly, ever.

#6 Playlists that get updated

This one is more of a callout to myself. I’ve finally updated the Mad King George playlist on Apple Music, I’ll get to it on Spotify.

“Oh Jason, why are you using Apple Music and not Spotify?” you ask. Because Apple Music is better in every way. You know that though.

#7 Hanging out with friends without posting it online

Spending time with my friends doesn’t need to be a social media event. If you go to brunch and don’t post about it, did you really go to brunch? Yes.

That being said, still take photos of you and your friends for the memories and scrapbooks.

#8 Show Bitches @ Vers Bar

My wife is Kiki Ball-Change’s biggest fan. So much so that she’s the admin of her fan page on instagram. For her birthday this year she demanded we all go to Show Bitches.

I’ve been going to Show Bitches every Sunday night since it started and I highly recommend anyone who likes Drag Queens, and musical theater to go.

Kiki Ball-Change and Plasma are a perfect duo. If you like to laugh and sing then this is the show for you.

Also Vers bar has great food.

#9 Back 4 Blood ( or just co-op games)

I finally bought a new xbox. An Xbox Series X to be more specific, a welcomed upgrade from my Xbox One.

My favorite thing about games was always the campaign. While I do play online multiplayer games there is nothing like a good story. But, I don’t like playing alone as much as I like to play with friends and now that most games don’t allow for couch co-op, I've had to settle for online co-op, which is fine.

I’ve been playing Back 4 Blood and It Takes Two a lot with my friend.

#10 McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe

I have a terrible habit of eating McDonald’s more than I should. It’s cheap, easy and delicious. It cohabitates with my habit of working to much. I’m trying to work less but i’m not actively trying to stop eating McDonald’s, it’s just too good.

What makes the Deluxe version better than the standard? Lettuce and Tomato and sometimes bacon. It really changes the optics of the burger, no longer a fast food burger but a burger you’d get at a bar (though better and cheaper) or a backyard bbq.

I’m sure there are plenty more things I could put here but I think ten is enough. How much could you, the reader, really care about what I’m obsessing over? Maybe more than I think. Either way, I appreciate you reading this.

Bonus thing we’re on right now: Delusion. It’s so in right now.
